Review: Tainted by Amanda Cowen

Tainted by Amanda Cowen is a sexy af love triangle romance about Rhys Wyatt, bad boy musician, and Ivy Bishop, his brother’s feisty girlfriend. I love a good erotic romance novel, which Tainted totally is – but even better, it belongs to the burgeoning New Adult genre that’s taking the indie romance world by storm!

The tension is real.

I’ll admit it: There were times I found Ivy, one of the narrators, to be selfish, clueless, and indecisive. But then I remembered being in my early twenties and in love and lust for the first times. It really is exciting and confusing, and imagine being torn between two cute brothers on top of that.

Rhys is Ivy’s perfect match. She’s had a crush on him forever. He’s the ultimate sexy bad boy, with tattoos and a chip on his shoulder. His character was the most interesting to me. At times I found him a little too controlling and traditional (wanting Ivy to cover up when she wears a bikini around other men and the like), but overall he really wants Ivy to shoot for her dreams.

And that’s my favorite part of this book. No spoilers, but the characters really have to work to be together and achieve their own dreams in life before it can all work out.

(Wyatt #1)
Publication date: June 22nd 2018
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Rhys Wyatt is as arrogant as he is beautiful, and Ivy Bishop has been infatuated with him forever. The night Ivy makes her move, it ends horribly, leaving her utterly heartbroken.

Three years later, Ivy is dating Blaine Wyatt; Rhys’s loving and tender younger brother. With Rhys and their past somewhat out of her mind, everything about her relationship with Blaine seems perfect. But when Blaine leaves Ivy alone all summer; neither of them anticipated Rhys to return, or him and Ivy to be stuck living under the same roof…

Rhys never believed Ivy would be all grown up and everything he’s ever wanted – gorgeous, perfectly alluring, and an infuriatingly tempting beauty he has to keep his hands off of. But the more they try to resist each other, the more intense their urges become, until one night changes everything, and Wyatt brothers will never be the same.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I didn’t agree with Ivy and her ideas most of the time, but that didn’t stop this from being a steamy NA read. The chemistry between Ivy and Rhys is palpable, and even though it’s wrong for them to be together, I couldn’t help but root for them. Perhaps I didn’t agree with the decisions and thoughts of the main characters most of the time, but this read certainly threw me back to being young (college-aged) and in love.

There were moments I certainly wasn’t crazy about, but overall it was what it set out to be – a steamy read.

Great review. I don’t like the two brothers thing but it sounds like a good steamy read.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of that either but I decided to give it a go anyway. It ended up making sense within the story and not feeling so “wrong” that I disliked the characters for their actions. ☺️
