I have always wanted to participate in National Novel Writing Month, also known as NaNoWriMo. NaNoWriMo is a yearly event many writers participate in, in which participants attempt to write a novel – 50,000 words – in one month.

I have tried a few times in the past to join in on this challenge, but life or lack of inspiration always got in the way. I decided 2020, the year I turned thirty, a year of so much turmoil but some positive changes in my life, was as good a time as any to try. Instead of trying for 50,000 words, I set a more realistic goal for myself and my lifestyle: 15,000 words. This is 500 words per day.

This year, I am working on putting some serious work into a novel that I’ve been thinking about for at least the past seven years. My WIP (work in progress) has the working title of So Much Like Lightning, and is a historical romance – more details to come, I hope!

Wish me luck on my writing adventures, and please add me as a friend on NaNoWriMo.org if you are also participating.

P.S. Today is Election Day in the United States! If you are an American citizen, I hope that you are registered to vote and that you have done so or will at some point today!
