I was so pumped to read All the Feels by Olivia Dade after falling in love with the first book in this series, Spoiler Alert. (Read my review here!) While the first in the series is still my favorite, All the Feels was a fun, rewarding read with memorable characters. If you love the grumpy/sunshine trope, this one’s for you.

The summary, from Amazon:

Following Spoiler Alert, Olivia Dade returns with another utterly charming romantic comedy about a devil-may-care actorwho actually cares more than anyone knowsand the no-nonsense woman hired to keep him in line.

“An absolutely witty, swoon worthy behind the scenes romp! Delightful from beginning to end!”–Julie Murphy, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Dumplin’

Alexander Woodroe has it all. Charm. Sex appeal. Wealth. Fame. A starring role as Cupid on TV’s biggest show, Gods of the Gates. But the showrunners have wrecked his character, he’s dogged by old demons, and his post-show future remains uncertain. When all that reckless emotion explodes into a bar fight, the tabloids and public agree: his star is falling.

Enter Lauren Clegg, the former ER therapist hired to keep him in line. Compared to her previous work, watching over handsome but impulsive Alex shouldn’t be especially difficult. But the more time they spend together, the harder it gets to keep her professional remove and her heart intact, especially when she discovers the reasons behind his recklessness…not to mention his Cupid fanfiction habit.

When another scandal lands Alex in major hot water and costs Lauren her job, she’ll have to choose between protecting him and offering him what he really wants—her. But he’s determined to keep his improbably short, impossibly stubborn, and extremely endearing minder in his life any way he can. And on a road trip up the California coast together, he intends to show her exactly what a falling star will do to catch the woman he loves: anything at all.

And don’t forget to check out Book 1 in the series, Spoiler Alert.

While you don’t need to read Spoiler Alert to understand All the Feels, the two books do share characters, namely Alex. Alex is our hero. He’s an actor on a popular show and is very unhappy with its final season. (Looking at you, Game of Thrones.) Alex has ADHD and his producers think his behavior is out of control after Alex gets into a bar brawl, the full story of which they are unaware of and don’t ask about. They hire Lauren as his minder to get through the next few months through the end of the season.
Lauren is Alex’s opposite – reserved, in charge, and unemotional. She has dealt with a lot at her previous job and her position as Alex’s “nanny” is almost like a vacation for her. This is a slow burn romance with two very different people who are attracted to one another ignoring the signs and becoming friends before they finally get physical and romantic.
If you enjoy slow burns, this one’s for you. I really enjoyed the connection between Alex and Lauren, whom he calls Wren, though their particular version of banter (lots of teasing) isn’t my favorite. I can tell that Olivia Dade genuinely loves her characters. This story was crafted with a lot of heart. I enjoyed watching Lauren learn to advocate for herself while Alex sat back and offered support, even when he wanted to fight on her behalf. While I preferred the first in the series, I highly recommend All the Feels. It was a very enjoyable 3 star read for me.

All the Feels (Spoiler Alert, #2)All the Feels by Olivia Dade
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

While I didn’t love this one as much as Spoiler Alert, it was still such a fun read with memorable MCs. I highly recommend this series. If grumpy/sunshine is a trope you’re into, you’ll love this book. The fanfiction aspect didn’t work for me as much in this one but it was still fun and cute. I also loved the message about empowerment and advocating for yourself.
