It’s actually more than a little funny. Hours before cracking open Type Dirty to Me one (metaphorically, as I read it on Kindle), I finished a book with a similar premise: Olivia Dade’s Spoiler Alert. In both novels, a woman is enjoying an emotional relationship with a man online, only to meet and fall in love with a film star! However, Type Dirty to Me is a completely different genre – part sexy romance, part drama/thriller, part cozy mystery, I would say!

While the plot of this one was very predictable, IMO, that didn’t make the book any less enjoyable. I loved Madelyn. She is a badass. She’s been through some shit, but she got herself out and is living her dream, even though that takes a lot of hard work. Brem is such a fun character and love interest, too. Her love scenes with him are spicy, and I liked that online flirtation she has going as well. The hottest scene in the book, to me, was when things got steamy with her online crush… 🔥🔥🔥

My only qualm with this book were that the “bad guy” characters were traditional feminine blondes. That’s a trope I just don’t care for. But this wasn’t made a big deal of, so it wasn’t that huge of an issue for me.

Overall, this was a fun and sexy read with an emotional punch as well. I like that I keep finding steamy romances about characters who are older than me. I’m sick of romances about folks in their twenties (outside of New Adult/college romances). Give me more characters like Madelyn and Brem, who are in their forties and living the romantic dream!! (I’m in my thirties. I need something to look forward to, haha.) This was a 4 star read for me, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a short romance with cozy mystery vibes. This book was quite a bit of everything: part sweet romance, part steamy romance; part cozy mystery, part thriller. While I found the plot to be predictable, that did not make it any less enjoyable. I really loved Madelyn. She has been through the ringer, but knows who she is, what she wants, and how to get it. I really admire her. My only qualm was that the “bad guy” characters were traditionally feminine blonde women. That’s a trope I’m not a fan of. However, overall this book portrayed romance between middle-aged characters in a very empowering way.
