One thing I’ve been interested in throughout my spirituality journey is learning more about communicating with the universe. To me, this meant just that – communicating with the omnipresent energy around me that I refer to as the universe. I decided to listen to Laura Lynne Jackon’s title Signs: The Secret Language of the Universe to learn more about this practice through the eyes of a psychic medium.

The summary, from Amazon:
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A renowned psychic medium teaches us how to recognize and interpret the life-changing messages from loved ones and spirit guides on the Other Side.
“A collection of incredible stories . . . that speak to the universe’s endless capacity for magical moments.”—Goop
Laura Lynne Jackson is a psychic medium and the author of the New York Times bestseller The Light Between Us. She possesses an incredible gift: the ability to communicate with loved ones who have passed, convey messages of love and healing, and impart a greater understanding of our interconnectedness. Though her abilities are exceptional, they are not unique, and that is the message at the core of this book. Understanding “the secret language of the universe” is a gift available to all. As we learn to ask for and recognize signs from the other side, we will start to find meaning where before there was only confusion, and see light in the darkness. We may decide to change paths, push toward love, pursue joy, and engage with life in a whole new way.In Signs, Jackson is able to bring the mystical into the everyday. She relates stories of people who have experienced uncanny revelations and instances of unexplained synchronicity, as well as others drawn from her own experience. There’s the lost child who appears to his mother as a deer that approaches her unhesitatingly at a highway rest stop; the name written on a dollar bill that lets a terrified wife know that her husband will be okay; the Elvis Presley song that arrives at the exact moment of Jackson’s own father’s passing; and many others. This is a book that is inspiring and practical, deeply comforting and wonderfully motivational, in asking us to see beyond ourselves to a more magnificent universal design.

I want to preface that though I am interested in spirituality, I’m a skeptic believer when it comes to mediumship and psychic ability. I think everyone has psychic abilities, but I’m always skeptical of accounts from psychics themselves, and though I’ve spoken with psychics, I’ve only had a few experiences that resonated with me. Some of the stories Jackson shares in this book definitely made me feel skeptical, while others were interesting and inspiring.
Jackson shares different ways what she refers to as your “team of light” might communicate with you. She claims this team of light is made up of the universe or “God energy”, spirit guides or angels, and your loved ones who have passed on. All of the religious references kind of lost me, but some of what Jackson had to say resonated. I feel like I have a connection to the universe and my loved ones who have passed, though some of them are what I have always referred to as my spirit guides and been told were by another medium. I don’t really believe in angels or feel like someone who has never met me personally is out there watching over me.
Jackson goes on to share stories from her client and even her own personal life about signs. I think the book could have been shorter with less examples, but almost all of the stories were interesting, emotional, or inspiring. Her final story kind of lost me, despite being deeply personal. Jackson then goes on to share some other techniques spiritual people might find interest in like manifestation or meditation, but they weren’t really related to signs from the universe…
This was a very interesting read/listen. I listened to the audiobook at around 1.2 – 1.3x speed. While I enjoyed it, it did leave me feeling a little skeptical still and it could have been shorter. I rate it 3 stars.

Sounds interesting. I think I would be a bit skeptical too, but it would be interesting anyway

Yeah, there are some aspects I totally believe, but others… not so much.
